Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders
For over twenty years, The Lazy Cowgirls were the undisputed kings of Los Angeles underground Rock 'n' Roll, releasing countless singles and albums for labels such as Sympathy For the Record Industry, Crypt, Bomp!, and Gearhead. Wayne Coyne, of The Flaming Lips, called them an «American Institution». The Cowgirls may be no more, but their founder, vocalist and songwriter, Pat Todd, has released his fourth full length album with The Rankoutsiders entitled «Blood & Treasure». Produced and engineered by former Sparks guitarist, Earle Mankey (The Cramps, Concrete Blonde, The Beach Boys, Possum Dixon), the album reflects the diversity of American Rock 'n' Roll. Love, hope, sex, death, betrayal, renewal – it’s all here. Pat Todd’s songwriting is an road map that leads back to the self – an existential longing to reside in the aesthetics of self-creation. Some call it art, others the blues, soul, country, rock ‘n’ roll – Keith and Mick live there; so do Ronnie, Johnny, Gram and Hank.
«Blood & Treasure» features the talents of the Rankoutsider family past and present. Among them are: Nick Alexander (lead guitar, mandolin and vocals); Kevin Keller (guitar and vocals); Bob Deagle (Lazy Cowgirl alumni and current Rankoutsders); Rick Johnson (also Cowgirl alumni, member of Luft Gods and The Defendants); Brian Irving (Tom Petersson Band, current Defendant and Rankoutsider) and the harmonica of Jeremy White (The Blessings).
Fred Mills - Magnet Magazine
«In Pat Todd’s music I hear all the same musical reference points that have fueled my dreams and imagination since I was a teenager - The Stones, Ronnie Lane and the Faces, Johnny Cash, New York Dolls, Dylan, the Ramones, and more».
Stiles White, film director
The sound Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders make is like the last 75 years of rock 'n' roll blues country punk and folk combined. Their music is both «younger than yesterday» and «older than the hills». A truly great band!
