Knives
Bristol post-punk band Knives debuted in April 2023 with their first EP "Newshounds" before releasing their highly anticipated cover of Kate Bush's Babooshka. With their poppy style and noise reminiscent of Idles, they have made a name for themselves in the punk and alternative scene, playing shows with Mclusky, Tokky Horror, LIFE and Enola Gay, while getting noticed by anyone who saw their chaotic live set.
Since the release of their first single 'Knives' they have enjoyed an enthusiastic response, selling out a high energy headline show at Rough Trade Bristol, announcing more exciting gigs and becoming a talking point in the scene. With their saxophonist Maddy Hill playing alongside Dan Farren and Josh Cook on guitar, bassist Ben Marshall, Erin Cook on drums and Jay Schottlander on vocals (and the nonsensical chatter on stage), they've put their own unique spin on punk. They all take creative leaps to design new waves as heard on Newshounds, spitting out dramatic breakdowns and aggressive lyrics.
The Knives are beyond excited to release new music in 2024. The first single "Doppelgänger" is a noisy post-punk number that proves this rowdy bunch have it in them. The track give an exciting insight into what else you can expect from this band.
